David G. Grant Beloved husband and father, Vietnam Veteran

 

5647 Grant OldDracut -   David G. Grant, 67, passed peacefully at home on October 8th, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife of 42 years, Pamela M. Grant, and devoted daughter, Amy M. Grant, by his side.

Born in Manchester, NH, August 7, 1948, he was the son of the late David W. and the late Rena (Lang) Grant. He attended Nashua, NH schools.

As an unskilled laborer, David worked at many jobs to support his family. Among his favorites was baking for Dunkin Donuts. His last place of employment was Advance Auto Parts in Billerica, MA.

David was a Vietnam Veteran. He proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne Division and received the Army Commendation 5647 Grant YoungMedal. He was a member of VFW Post 483 in Nashua, NH and served in the Color Guard in the 1970’s.

David enjoyed camping, classical music, word searches and scratch tickets. He was a member of the Dracut Senior Center and played Buffalo Bingo twice a week. He performed in the talent shows at both Clearwater Campground and the Senior Center.

David is survived by his brothers and sisters, William Grant (Denise) of Manchester, NH; Linda Southwick of Nashville, TN; Sharon Gulley of PA; Cheryl Blakely (Ed) of Greenville, NH; and Dennis Grant of Nashua, NH. In addition, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, Ruth Roy of Hudson, NH; Audrey Singleton (Donald) of Tyngsboro, MA; and Christine French (Eric) of Maynard, MA. He leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

David was predeceased by his parents, David and Rena Grant, his sister-in-law Hilma Clawson, and brothers-in-law, David Clawson and Richard Roy.

His wife and daughter express their gratitude to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, the VNA Care Network (Leanne Masseur, RN) & Hospice (Ivy Z Onyemem, RN), and Visiting Angels (Jessica Gonzalez).

Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Services Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford.

    I knew Dave from the Pheasant Lane Mall when he was working in Housekeeping. Dave was a great guy fun to talk to. God bless.

    I worked with Dave at the Pheasant Lane Mall back in the 1980’s for several years. I remember him as a hard worker and a good family man. He spoke of his family often and loved them very much. I was sad to hear of his passing.
