Evangeline Theresa Howcroft
Evangeline Theresa (Sakalinski) Howcroft of Lowell, MA died Monday, February 16, 2015 at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell.
She was married to the late Howard E. Howcroft who died in April of 1974. Born in Lowell, MA on April 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Antonina (Suslowich) Sakalinski. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1936 where she was a Girl Officer.
Evangeline was employed over the years as a Lowell City Hall Employee. She was a member of St. Joseph Lithuanian Church in Lowell and also a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church of Lowell where she was also a member of the Sodality.
Evangeline was an avid shopper and an animal lover. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and doing crafts.
She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Matthews and her husband, Michael Forsley of Lowell a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Dorothy Howcroft of Chelmsford, six cherished grandchildren, Bryan, Steven, and David Matthews, Brenda Meserevy-Bala, Aaron Matthews, and Keith Howcroft, three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Sakalinski of Lowell, John Sakalinski of Medfield, MA; and her sister, Alice Kapala of Lowell. The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Manor for their care and kindness during her stay there.
Visiting hours are Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Burial will be private.
