Guy R. Constantine former Fire Chief of Tyngsboro WWII Army Veteran

 

5699 ConstantineGuy R. Constantine, 89, of Tyngsboro, MA died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center.

He was married to Avis Constantine with whom he celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on February 16, 2015.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Guy and Ruth Constantine.

He proudly served in the 25th Infantry Division as an MP with the U.S. Army during WWII. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Guy owned and operated the Constantine Construction Loam, Sand and Gravel Company, the Constantine Campground, the Red Wing Diner, and the Tyngsboro Diner all of Tyngsboro. He was the former Tyngsboro Fire Chief of Tyngsboro, at 21 years of age, the youngest Fire Chief in the state.

Guy was a member of the VFW Post of Billerica, an honorary member of the Tyngsboro Sportsmen’s Club.

He enjoyed listening to music, playing his guitar, visiting Lake Winnipesaukee, hunting and fishing.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Guy L. Constantine of Tyngsboro, Peter and his wife, Nancy Constantine of Milford, NH and Daryl and his wife, Joy Constantine of Hollis, NH; brother, Arthur and his wife, Claire Constantine of Tyngsboro; two sisters, Phyllis Estabrook and Cynthia and her Husband, Thomas Tandna of Kissimmee, FL; step-daughter, Dawne and her husband, Michael Micalizzi of Wilmington; granddaughter, Jessica Constantine of Milford, NH and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Harold Constantine of Palm Beach, FL.

Visiting hours Sun. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Service Mon. at 2P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA. Burial in the Flint Cemetery, Tyngsboro. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
