Heidi Swan of Lowell

Heidi Swan, a lifelong resident of Lowell MA, died unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt.

Born in Lowell on February 19, 1961, Heidi was the daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Jacqueline (Sullivan) Swan.

She graduated from Lowell High School in 1979.  She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Middlesex Community College and Greater Lowell Technical School, where she received her LPN while serving as Class President.

Heidi formerly worked in the health care field at Seven Hills Foundation in Groton, MA.

She also spent many years as the primary caregiver providing home health care for her father and mother, and most recently for her sisters Pamela and Lisa.

She was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Lowell, MA.

Heidi was a very compassionate and loving person, and always put everyone else’s care and well-being before her own.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her nieces, nephews and dogs.  While home caring for her mother and father, she also provided daycare and after school care for her nieces and nephews.

Heidi is survived by her sisters Pamela Swan of Lowell, MA, Karen Swan-son of Tyngsboro, MA, Robin and her husband David Crossman of Hudson, MA and Lisa Swan of Lowell, MA; her brother Robert Jr. and his wife Lee Ann Swan of Westford, MA; nephews Andrew Crossman, Joseph Crossman and Robert Swan III; nieces Virginia Crossman, Sara Crossman and Amanda Swan. She also leaves behind her 3 beloved dogs, Hannah, Savannah and Pollyanna.

  1. Karen Swan-Son says:

Darling sister you are sorely missed by all of us. No matter what, you were always positive and would never let anyone know if you didn’t feel well. Always those 2 words you spoke so often ” I’m fine!” I think I’ve grown to hate those words because you weren’t fine and if you had only gone to the hospital sooner maybe you’d still be with us. Maybe…
None of us know what God has planned, I certainly didn’t. The last thing I expected that night was you passing away an hour after I left visiting you. You were doing so well and plans were being made for your discharge. I’m so glad we had that last hour together, it was good, special and just for us. We needed that time together, I am so grateful. I love you sweetie and will always miss you. I am happy for you now to be back with Mom and Dad who I know you have missed terribly all these years and were never really able to get past it. I think Mom said enough Heidi, I’m coming to get you and pulled you thru. I can see you now walking with Mom and Dad without crutches or pain. Give them a kiss and hug from all of us! I love you and miss you, but someday we will all be together again. God bless you and keep you, don’t worry about Pam and Lisa, I’ll take care of them. Not like you did Heidi, I could never fill your shoes but I’ll do my best. XOXOXO Karen

  10. Megan Makara says:

I don’t even have words to describe how heartbroken we all are. We miss you so much.

These past two years of knowing you and your family have been two of the best years.
Angela is completely right when she stated that you became more than just “the sister I took care of” and I know we became more than just “the girl who took care of your sister” to you.

I will miss walking through the door seeing you with a big smile saying “There she is! It’s Ms Megan! How are you today?”
I’ll miss sharing my every day life with you. Showing you pictures of events that happened over the weekend.
I’ll miss making you laugh your ass off.
I’ll miss teasing you with Angela just so we could be a pain in your ass.
With missing so much more than that, I’ll miss calling your name and having you answer back, the most.

You became another mother. You listened to our problems. You gave us advice. You did a lot for us even though I know you’d say otherwise. You just had so much love in your heart. You were so excited for me to move to CA but you were more excited for me to move back home. You always told me you missed my laugh, my smile, and just me all around when I came home.
Well, I miss your laugh, your smile, and just you all around.

I never in a million years thought I’d miss the smell of a cigarette. Just yours though hahah but I’d take that in a heartbeat to have you back.

You’ve always wanted to hear me sing but I never would. As long as you’re my angel while I’m behind the wheel, you can hear me all you want. ❤️😉

I know you’re in a better place now with your loved ones who you missed so much.

I just hope you’re having a blast with all your unlimited Dunkin Donut Iced Coffees now ❤️

Please watch over all of your girls 💖

    I love you.
