Richard “Dick” Curtin, 67, of Chelmsford, MA died suddenly at his home on Sunday May 22, 2016.

He was the husband of Carolyn (Lutkus) Curtin with whom he would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on June 10.

Born in Cambridge on Oct. 19, 1948, he was a son of the late Daniel and Frances Curtin. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School with the class of 1966. He earned his BA in Business Administration from Northeastern University Class in 1972 and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of PA in 1978.

He served as an officer in the US Army from 1972-1979.

Dick worked as a Project Manager at Raytheon Corp in Nashua for many years before retiring in 2008.

He enjoyed traveling, genealogy, golf and bird watching. He spent many hours volunteering with the Red Cross, at the Deutsche Bank Golf Tournament, at the Chelmsford Town Hall, and various other places.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin Curtin and his wife Michelle of Hampton, NH and Michael Curtin of Nashua, NH; his brother, Daniel Curtin and his wife, Carrie of Rochester, NH; his sister, Susan Ryder and her husband Paul of Saco, ME; his mother in-law, Helen Lutkus of Sudbury, MA; three grandchildren, Kelly, Hannah and Joseph Curtin, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours Wed. 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. with a Funeral Service at 2:00 at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Memorials may be made in his name to the Mass. Audubon 208 South Great Rd. Lincoln, MA 01773.

    Dick was always SO kind and helpful at the plant sales, always volunteering for everything. When things were slow, we would discuss the most recent bird sightings and where he was travelling to see new birds. We will all miss him so much.

    You don’t know me, but I worked with your husband at the Conservation sale set ups and used to see him at the Senior Center flu clinic, book drops, and other places around town. He was such a funny, kind man and so hard working. He’s going to be greatly missed.
