Roger R. Ducharme Korean War Vet; of Westford, MA

 

5552 DucharmeMr. Roger R. Ducharme, 82, a longtime resident of Westford, MA died Friday afternoon, June 12, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

He was married to Mrs. Rachael M. (Vail) Ducharme with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 16, 2015.

Roger was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Ducharme.  He was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1951.  He attended Lowell Textile School.

He served with the U.S. Army during Korean War and was honorably discharged.

Roger owned and operated Duval Machinery of Westford, MA, and retired from Piconics of Tyngsboro, MA.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA and St. Catherine Church in Westford, MA.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes, but most of all Roger loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Roger P. and Rosemary Ducharme of Lexington, MA, and David and Lynne Ducharme of St. Louis, MO, a daughter, Jenny Brown of Groton, MA, two brothers, Joseph and Marge Ducharme of Springfield, MA and Robert and Rosalie Ducharme of Pelham, NH, and three grandchildren, Andrew Ducharme, and Sarah and Jake Brown.  Roger is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as several close friends.

Funeral Tues. at 8AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.     Roger was my manager in Tyngsboro when I took a summer job as a college student in the early 1990s. He taught me many things and I especially remember how he conducted himself in a composed and professional manner even in difficult situations. I saw how he earned the respect of others and I’ve tried to act in the same way through my own career. I’m very sad to learn of his passing and am grateful he was part of my life.
