Edward R. Parlee, 74, of Tyngsboro, MA, passed away on June 18, 2024, at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell, MA. Born in Lowell, MA on July 13, 1949, Edward was the cherished son of the late Edward and Mary (Keohane) Parlee. He was raised in the Sacred Heart neighborhood of Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1967. Continuing his education, Edward earned degrees from UMass Lowell, known then as Lowell Tech, and later received his MBA from Babson College in Wellesley.
Edward proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard stationed at Fort Drum in New York during the Vietnam War. He embarked on a career in education, teaching Accounting and Business classes at Lowell High School over 30 years until his retirement. He was deeply committed to his students, playing an instrumental role in the DECA program where he prepared young entrepreneurs for business careers. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the beach, cruise vacations, and gardening.
Edward will be remembered for his dedication to education and his kindness towards others. He leaves behind a legacy of service to his community that will be cherished by those who knew him.
Edward is survived by his three brothers, Warren Parlee of Atkinson, NH, Mark and his wife Ellen Parlee of Tyngsboro, MA, and John Parlee of Tyngsboro, MA; a nephew Brian Parlee of Billerica; three nieces and their families, Jill Parlee and her husband Shervon DeLeon of Byfield, MA, Mary Parlee Durkin and her husband Gregory Durkin of Wellesley, MA, and Anne Parlee Hennigan and her husband Bryan Hennigan of Tyngsboro, MA.

Visitation Monday, June 24, 2024 at 8:00am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., N. CHELMSFORD. My deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Ed for many years at Lowell High School. I did my student teaching under his supervision and he ensured I had the resources and support needed to succeed . So very sorry to hear of his passing.

I often think of the summers we spent together, along with his parents and brothers, some of the happiest times in my life. Eddie was a class act, one of the good ones. I hope you rest in peace.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Mr. Parlee was my favorite teacher at LHS back in the late 80s, early 90s. His sense of humor made learning fun 🙂 May he rest in peace.
