Richard Warren “Bud” Barrelle, Jr., 84, of Tyngsboro, MA, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell, MA, after succumbing to a brief illness.

He was married to Barbara (Popplewell) Barrelle with whom he would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on August 3, 2024.

Born in Somerville, MA he was the beloved son of Richard W. Barrelle, Sr. and Barbara (Scobie) Barrelle Mahoney and step-father Henry Mahoney. Bud grew up and attended Billerica Public Schools.

Bud served in the US Navy aboard the USS Cassin Young 793D which is now berthed at Boston Navy Yard across from the USS Constitution.

He retired from CN Wood, Inc. of Burlington, MA as a VP of Sales and Marketing after 60 years.

He attended and was married at Chelmsford Congregational Church.  He was also a past member of Westford Lions Club.

He enjoyed gardening, travelling, caring for his home, fishing in Alaska, and great restaurants but mostly liked spending time with his family whom he spoiled to the end.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sherri and her husband Mark Connors of Hudson, NH, his son, Craig and his wife, Brenda Barrelle of Boca Raton, FL, his brother, David and his wife, Ellie Barrelle of Venice, FL, his sister-in-law Helen Hanafin. His grandson’s, Evan Connors and his wife Syd, Bruce Connors and his girlfriend Lindsey Ewing; and his great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Evan Connors and Grace Lyko, her mother Aimee and fiancée Cam Coulter, all affectionally knew him as “Papa”, several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

He was predeceased by his grandson Mark J. Connors, Jr.

Bud’s visiting hours will be Monday, July 29, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDESEX STREET, CHELMSFORD, MA.  Burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell, MA.  Memorials may be made in his name to Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.     Buddy was like a second dad to me. I loved him so much! We had so much fun at all the parties they had. I will cherish all those memories we had together.I will miss him so much and cant believe he is gone. Very sad for me. My thoughts are with all the families too! 😔🙏😔🙏
