Khamphanh Phothisene, 98, of Lowell

Khamphanh Phothisene, 98, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital after a period of declining health. Born in Vientiane, Laos, he was the son of the late Kenechanh and Thongmy Phothisene.

In Laos, Khamphanh proudly served in the military and later dedicated his life to education. He worked as a teacher for many years and eventually became the Superintendent of the school system in Ban Hom, Laos. In 1981, he moved to the United States to start a new chapter of his life.

In his spare time, Khamphanh enjoyed fishing and was an active member of the Wat Lao Mixayaram temple in his community. He was a beloved presence among family and friends.

Khamphanh is survived by his loving wife, Seng Phothisene, and his children: Davis Phothisene, Pamela Burns, Connie Phothisene, Vinnie Phommavath, Praveth Phothisene, Souriyeth Phothisene, Katie Doyle, Viseth Phothisene, Nina Kornatz, Sangkhom Phothisene, and Amla Phothisene. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Panh (Pongpimkham) Phothisene, as well as his five brothers and three sisters.
