Theuth “Tom” Bounsong of Lowell, MA

Theuth “Tom” Bounsong, 67, of Lowell, MA, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lahey Medical Center, Burlington, MA.

He was married to Phonh Chanthavong.

Born in Savannakhet, Laos he was the beloved son of Khaen Bounsong and Khomaly Bounsong.

Tom came to the United States in 1981, and very proudly became a United States citizen on October 23, 2019.

He graduated from Lowell High School.

He was a very active devoted member of Wat Buddhabhavana Temple.

Tom enjoyed gardening and loved wearing his wife’s pink gardening hat while doing so.  He was known to have a bit of a “sweet tooth,” and often times would hide candy from his family so he could enjoy it all to himself. Tom was extremely photogenic and loved having his pictures taken.  He also enjoyed karaoke, fishing and walking the family dog, Benji. Tom was a kid at heart, always looking forward to Christmas and his birthday, especially to open his gifts. Overall, Tom received the most joy while spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Tom is survived by son Donny Chanthavong and his wife, Maliny Penn, of Lowell, his daughters: Lysamay Chanthavong and her husband, Lapanh Tran, of Dracut, Malyvanh Chanthavong and her husband, Mackie Rajsombat, of Lowell, Elizabeth Chanthavong and her husband, Johnny Seng, of Lowell, his sister Douangmany Reilly, his nieces Sandy Thongkhamsouk and Malaysy Thongkhamsouk, his sixteen grandchildren.
