Paul Francis Buckley, 66, of Chelmsford, MA, formerly of Marshfield and Brighton, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, MA. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis A. (Russell) Buckley, with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage this past August.
Born in Boston, MA, Paul was the cherished son of the late Paul G. and Madeline (Cusack) Buckley. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Brookline as part of the Class of 1975, later earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Paul enjoyed a long and successful career at Horrigan’s and Flanagan’s Supermarkets in Brighton, where he made many lasting friendships and met the love of his life, Phyllis. He later worked for State Street in Boston before his retirement in 2022.
Paul was a lifelong catholic to several parishes and his faith was important to him. More than anything, he loved caring for his grandchildren, attending their sporting events, or just having a backyard pool party. He found great joy in golfing, skiing, traveling the world with his wife and children, and anything that included spending time with his family and his dogs.
In addition to his wife, Paul leaves behind his sons, Paul Jr. and his wife Kristen of Waltham, MA, Patrick and his wife Jacqueline of Chelmsford, MA, and his daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband Shane Mulkerrin, also of Chelmsford, MA. He was the most proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Jack, Charlie, Maggie, Russell, Julian, Carter, and Callan. Paul is also survived by his brother Joseph and his wife Kristina of Hopedale, MA, and his sisters Mary Jean and her husband Daniel Wallace, and Diane and her husband Scott O’Shea, all of Medway, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, Gerard, and James Buckley.

I so fondly recall Paul from our childhood days. In fact the Buckley family, just a few homes up dead end Lyne road played such a huge part of my childhood. Although I was best friends with his late brother Gerry, played “Outs” ad infinitum with his late brother Jimmy, we all shared a love and camaraderie around baseball and the Red Sox. We also attended St Gabriel’s School and church. They were a most fine upstanding Catholic family. Paul, like his bothers will be sorely missed but the memories will live forever❤️

Dear Phyllis and family . . . we were so saddened to hear of your sudden loss. Paul was such a great guy and family man with such a calmness about him. May you see him in spirit through your children and grandchildren . . . and little daily glimmers of life. He lives on in many ways.
Love and Hugs, Sheldon, Janet, and Natalie Anderson
