Kevin James Kearns, 67, of Westford, MA died in his home Thursday, December 26, 2024 unexpectedly of a recently diagnosed heart condition.

Born in Lowell, MA to lifelong residents James and Teresa Kearns, he attended Bishop Guertin High School (Class of ‘75) and ULowell, and went onto work in quality assurance for over 40 years. He was married to his high school sweetheart Anne Dempsey (“my first wife”) with whom he celebrated 41 years in September, 2024. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Malcolm and Duncan, daughter-in-law Leigh, sisters Karen, Patti and Donna, in-laws Pat, Bonny, Joe, Nancy and their families, and cousins James Dillon, James Hogan and Ellie Rafferty. He was excited to welcome his first grandchild in April.

Kevin was one-of-a-kind. He was passionate, energetic and creative. He poured himself into his hobbies, most notably growing giant pumpkins with the New Hampshire and Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers. While he strove to grow pumpkins exceeding 1000 lbs, he was most proud of winning Deerfield State Fair’s “Best Looking” pumpkin in 2017. He created a Halloween spectacular every year with his pumpkin carving.

He was a tremendous all-season athlete, whether running the Boston Marathon, teaching ski lessons at Nashoba Valley, surfing 15’ hurricane waves, springboard diving, or coaching a number of youth sports teams. He was also an incredible writer, cook, artist, outdoorsman and inventor.

Kevin was the type of guy to help you out in a jam, and his generosity is unparalleled. Above all Kevin was incredibly humble, and would deflect any compliments or praise to those around him. He would have never allowed this to be written when he was alive.

Aunt Ann, Mac, & Duncan- so many sweet childhood memories come to mind when remembering Uncle Kevin. Today, I also came across a pictures of all of us today at your house- so many great memories from tobogganing in his yard or shucking corn & swinging in the hammock. Uncle Kevin always played the best Santa- I confident he instilled my love for Christmas! He easily brought so much magic to my childhood- you will be forever missed!
