Raymond J. “Van” Perigny, 76, of Lowell, MA died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his home.
He was married to Helen D. (McCue) Perigny with whom he would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 21, 2017.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Raymond and Edna Perigny. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1958 and was a lifelong resident of South Lowell.
He proudly served with the U.S. Navy on board the USS Wagner 539.
Raymond worked as a binder for the Courier Citizen of Lowell. He retired in 1992. After his retirement he worked at ZBR of Haverhill, MA.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish of Lowell.
Raymond was a member of the Knickerbocker Club and the Billerica Elks.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Raymond Scott Perigny of Lowell, MA, Donald and his wife, Sandy Perigny of Litchfield, NH and James Perigny of Lowell, MA; a daughter, Julie Casella of Holden, MA; a sister, Shirley and her husband, George Gentle of Sumter County, FL; three sisters-in-law, Cecile McCue, Peggy and her husband, Matthew McCafferty, and Mary and her husband, Robert Johnson; and nine grandchildren. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as close friends.
He was the brother-in-law of George “Buddy” McCue of Hudson, NH who died March 2015.
Visiting hours Tues. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Wed. at 9am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10am at the Holy Family Parish in Lowell, 30 Grafton St., Lowell. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
