Doris McGrath, 100, of Tyngsboro, MA, died peacefully, Saturday Night at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford.
She was born February 11, 1916, in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Francis and Rosilda (Maynard) Fleury. She graduated Durfee High School in Fall River with the class of 1933. After high school Doris attended secretary school graduated with a business certificate.
She remained in Fall River for 30 years before moving to Revere in 1950; where she lived for 20 years raising her children. After her children graduated from Revere High School, she moved to Tyngsboro in 1971. She had resided at Brinley Terrace since May of 1982, and had been a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.
She retired after working 12 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Croce and her husband Henry of Tyngsboro, Carol Spavento and her husband Jim of Tyngsboro, and Dian (DeMaino) Bobola of Chelmsford, a son in law Edward Woodlock of Chelmsford, a daughter in law Ruth (Martel) Colman of Fall River, fourteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, four great-great granddaughters, three nieces, and a nephew. Doris is also survived by her caregiver, Lisa Goguen of Tyngsboro.
She is predeceased by her son, Raymond Martel of Chelmsford who died July 19, 1969, and daughter, Annette (Martel) Woodlock of Chelmsford who died May 15, 2012. She is also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and his wife Raymonde Fluery of Philadelphia, PA, Normand and his wife, Shirley Fleury of Tewksbury.
Visiting hours Wed. 3 to 7 PM. Funeral Thurs. at 10am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD with a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford, MA. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. With deepest sympathy for the entire family. Memere was so special. She embraced me from the moment I met her and I fell in love with her that minute! We are so lucky to have had her with us for 100 years. We will miss her so much! She is embracing her children and smiling down on everyone, she will always be our angel.
