Edward “Ed” F. Murphy, 88, of Westford died surrounded by his loving family at his home on Friday, November 3, 2017.
He was married to Carol J. (Coates) Murphy with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on October 10, 2017.
Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Francis and Mildred Murphy. He graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1947 and earned a BS in Business from Boston University.
He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Ed worked as an insurance adjuster for Cigna of Braintree, retiring in 1992. He had previously worked for the Crawford and Company of Lowell.
He was a member of the Nabnasset Lake Country Club for thirty seven years.
Ed was an avid golfer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband, Michael Perciballi of Groton; grandchildren, Chelsea and Edward “Ted” Perciballi; sister-in-law, Marilyn Murphy of Florida; brother-in-law, Dominic Arena of Dedham, MA and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Brian and Stephen Murphy, and the brother of late Carol Arena and the late George Murphy.
Visiting Hours will be Mon. 4 to 7 P.M. Funeral Service Tues. at 11AM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. Carol and Susan. I am so sorry of Ed’s passing. We have been friends for a very long time and he was always special to my children and myself. I am very happy that we were able to see you and Ed in Florida a few times. You were a great couple and you know that he is in God’s loving arms.
