No Funeral Date Scheduled

David J. Duffy Jr, 62,  of Westford died unexpectedly Monday August 27, 2018.  He was the husband of Valerie (Daukantis) Duffy.

Born in Somerville, MA on August 15, 1956, the son of the late David J. Sr and Maureen Duffy. He was raised in Westford and graduated from Nashoba Tech with the Class of 1975. Most recently he worked for A. J. Mailing of Wilmington, MA.

David loved to ride his Harley. He kept the machines humming at D&M Mailing Service, which he owned and operated for almost 30 years.  He could drive a golf ball a country mile.  He loved all animals, large and small.  He was so very proud of his two girls.  David was the ultimate mama’s boy who cared for his mother every single night until she passed.  He was a captivating story teller.  David was the first to lend a hand or a kind word when you needed one.  Above all, he cherished his wife and best friend of nearly 20 years, Val.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Danielle Duffy of Manchester, NH and Drew Duffy of Merrimack, NH; three sisters and their husbands, Denise and Robert Cayer of Ormond Beach, FL, Diana and Carroll Wilcox of Westford, MA, Donna and Daniel Doherty of Westford, MA; two brother-in-laws and their wives, Alan and Gail Daukantis of Leominster, MA, Larry and Karen Daukantis of Staunton, VA; sister in-law and her husband, Elizabeth and Tony Bechtol of Van Nuys, CA.

There are no visiting hours.  At his request, there will be a Celebration of Life on Nab Lake next summer.

I was so very shocked and saddened to get a call yesterday with this tragic news. I recently retired from AJ Mail, but also worked with Dave at MetroMail in Framingham, way back when.
We were “smoking” buddies at break and lunch, typically discussing the drama in work. I know how much he loved his wife, family, dogs…and we debated about loving rainy days. I printed info for him on SS as he was thinking about retiring, wishing now he would have given in and done so to enjoy some leisure with his loves.
I know you are as devastated as we, his friends and coworkers are stunned and saddened. I pray in time there is healing, with fond memories, knowing he is watching over you. He was a good man with a good heart and will be missed by all that knew him.

    Sincere blessings and sympathy

I was shocked, saddened and devistated to hear of Dave’s passing. Dave was more than a friend, he was like a big brother to me. When ever I needed him he was there for me. His goofy sense of humor and quick wit always kept me smiling. He was a generous unselfish man who would give the shirt off his back if needed. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time of great loss.

I used to work for KMS in Woburn and D&M was housed in the same building.

Working with Dave was something I will always remember. He was a great guy.

Even though it’s been 25 years…it was an awesome place to work and a great group of people to work with…Dave was one of them.

    Rest in Peace Dave

Dear Val and Family, we are so very deeply sorry about Dave. He was such a good soul. I thank God I got to meet David and work with him here at AJ Mailing.
our kids Tony and Rachel were very sadden by his loss. They also got to work with Dave, and felt as to why such good guy had to go so soon.Tony and Rachel send you their condolences and feel terrible about such great loss.
other than Dave been a great coworker, he was such a caring person. Not a day went by where David would walk by my office and said “Good morning mother” and always made sure to come in my office and say hi to my Buddy boy 🙁
Now David and Buddy are together up in heaven..
David, may your soul rest in peace and may you find Buddy and all your love ones up in heaven.
Val, please be strong and know that David is watching over you and your family always.
Blessings to you and your family, with love and a heavy heart… Adriana

I was shocked, saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. Death brings pain that time can only heal, No words could ease what we truly feel; But with God, his joy is eternally sealed, and cherish him memories that death can’t even seal. Lift up a smile for he is already in the paradise. With sympathy so sorry for loss. Cristie Galindez
