  11. Frederick A. Melvin III says:

Hello folks it’s been so long, and this is such sad news to get updated around. Kristal, and I live in Olympia Washington.
That is for about another week or so. Kristal is still a active duty U.S. Army Lt. Col. And we are being transferred to Texas in less than 2 weeks. She joined the Army at forty years old to save my life when medicating me became too expensive.
My body has survived ten painful reconstruction surgeries from radeation poisoning aboard the second nuclear missile submarine built. I am a retired shop teacher after teaching engineering from middle school through graduate school, and everything In Between .I can no longer fly in airplanes so I will not be able to attend the funeral. It took us a whole week by train just to travel to Maryland two moths ago to attend my youngest boys college graduation. Another train trip like that I am not up for. All four boys are now degrees, and on their own. We are both very saddened by the loss of Uncle Frankie. Next summer was going to be our first visit back East through New England in nearly twenty years. More like thirty years since last reaching Maine. I would have enjoyed meeting with him again.
    Love Old Hippie Ted

  16. Kathy (Melvin) Boyle says:

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Frankie’s passing.
I remember fondly of our visits with him and Aunt Janet as a child growing up in Tewksbury and later on at their home in Bedford with my parents and new husband John.
As you get older, farther away, and so consumed with your kids and careers you don’t see everyone you should, as often as you might like, but it never meant I had forgotten him. My memories are of a kindhearted, generous, and devoted family man who generously would help anyone when called upon.
Unfortunately, John will be undergoing minor skin surgery this week, which may prevent us from attending his memorials and prevent us from providing our condolences in person.
However please be assured our thoughts are with everyone who will miss him so dearly.
