Helen Clara (Rettig) Gavlik of Lowell

 

Helen Clara (Rettig) Gavlik, 90, of Lowell died Saturday March 7, 2015 at the Fairhaven Healthcare Center in Lowell.

She was married to the late Henry J. Gavlik who died in 1981.

Born in Hamburg, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Barbara Rettig. She was a graduate of Hamburg High School.

Helen worked as a clerk at the Tyngsboro Post Office for many years retiring in 1989. She had for a short time delivered the Lowell Sun Newspaper.

She was an avid gardener with a green thumb especially for cacti. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Helen was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Tyngsboro.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth and his wife, Pearlene Gavlik of Selma, OR; one daughter, RonnieAnn Hughes of Tyngsboro; one brother, Edward Rettig of FL; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late George, Frank, Alfred and Florence Rettig.
