Alfred “Alky” J. Welcome Jr., 84, of Dunstable, MA died Thursday Nov. 20, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Veronica Welcome. He attended Keith Hall and graduated from Essex County Agricultural.
During the Korean War, He served in the US Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Alfred worked as a Massachusetts State Trooper as a Field Officer, Troop C out of the Southbridge and Leominster Barracks from 1956-1980. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.
His family would like to thank Dr. Ardman and staff at Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center.
He is survived by his companion, Patricia Salvatore of Hyde Park, MA; two nieces, Kathleen Welcome of Groveton, NH and Maryann Burton of Pompano Beach, FL; and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother William Welcome.
Private graveside services were Monday November 24, 2014 at St. Patrick Cemetery Lowell, MA. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.

I will miss my visits with Alky at his home. He love to talk about his cars, tucks and tractors and always greeted you with a smile. Our mutual friend Harold Blackie was always part of the conversation. God bless you my friend and I am sure you our riding a Harley once again. “Gods Speed”.

I’m so sorry that I didn’t look “Al” up after he retired from the M.S.P. He broke me in, at Leominster, as a new Trooper in 1967. I have fond memories of the adventures we had together and always held him in the highest regard as a man and as a Mass.State Police Officer. He is truly missed. My genuine condolences to his family and friends.
