Alice M. (Briere) Gilbride, 92, of Tyngsboro, MA died Thursday, March 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Genesis Westford House in Westford.
She was married to the late Frederick J. Gilbride, who died on May 10, 2007.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Briere. She graduated from Dracut High School with the class of 1941.
Alice worked at St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Alice was an avid artist, who enjoyed doing water color painting and charcoal drawings. She was a loyal Red Sox fan who never missed watching a game. A loving and devoted wife and mother, Alice will always be remembered as a gentle and kind individual who brought comfort and joy to all who had the privilege to know her.
She is survived by one son, Kevin Gilbride of Stoughton, MA; one daughter, Donna and her husband, Douglas Deschenes of Westford; three grandchildren, Lindsey Deschenes, Evan Deschenes and Jesse Gilbride and seven nieces and nephews, Thomas Gilbride, Robert Gilbride, John Gilbride, Judy Potter, Joanne Ryder,Carolyn Mottolo and Thomas Briere.
She was the sister of the late Raymond Briere of Pelham, NH.
She leaves many friends at Brinley Terrace in Tyngsboro, including her special friend Hazel Mansfield.
Visiting hours Tues. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Wed. at 8A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Aunt Alice was a very special person to me. Always with a smile, a kind word and a gentle spirit. She loved her family and lived a life that was both God honoring and God pleasing. She is now, once again, reunited with Uncle Fred. I am truly blessed to have have known and spent time (especially during my formative years) with the two of them. My thoughts and prayers are with you both during this difficult time.
