Amelia A. Chheak, beloved fiancée, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away on February 25, 2024, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. She was 44 years old.
Amelia was born on May 8, 1979, in Battambang, Cambodia, to Samrith Chheak and Sarom Hin. In 1992, she immigrated to the United States, where she attended Lowell High School and graduated with the class of 1997. She had over 20 years of experience working locally in wafer fab operations at Analog Device and Skyworks Solutions.
Amelia was a vibrant soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She shared her childlike wonder through her beaming smile and contagious laugh. Taking time to “stop and smell the roses” was non-negotiable; experiencing beauty fed her soul. In this light, her love of jewelry was never materialistic, but rather offered another source of beauty to carry and admire. Known for her immense kindness and generosity, Amelia had a heart of gold. Incredibly strong-willed and determined, she was an unstoppable force once she set her mind on something. She connected easily with people and fascinated them with stories of her life. Amelia was a true romantic that was deeply moved by love songs and would give everything to follow her heart.
Her adventurous spirit and eagerness to try new things has produced an impressive résumé of experiences. Life was a buffet from which Amelia wanted to sample everything on offer. This fed her deep love for travel, especially to tropical destinations where she loved to feel the sand beneath her feet at the beach, and to experience the delicious fresh fruits and colorful flowers that reminded her of her homeland. No matter where she was, or what she was doing, Amelia’s two children were always foremost in her heart, making sure they were both loved and prepared for life as adults. She delighted in cooking delicious meals and was always hunting for new recipes to try. Gardening was another passion of hers, and she found solace in tending to her garden and filling her sunroom with plants, always greeting them boisterously as she tended to them.
Amelia is survived by her devoted fiancé, Les Green; her loving parents, Samrith Chheak and Sarom Hin; her cherished children, Chris Soun and Miranda Rose Scott; her brothers, Chamroeun Chheak, Sophon Chheak, and Sophoern Chheak; her sisters, Sreymon Chheak and Evelyn Chou; and her adoring nieces and nephews, Sokun, Kanyka, Shen, Arya, Julia, Sofia, Glenn, and Vincent.
