Andrew John Borsa passed away peacefully on March 7, 2016, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford, MA, with his family by his side. He was 71 years old, born in 1944 in Tel Aviv Israel, to Maria and Alojzy Borsa. After living in Palestine, England, and Canada, the family moved to Norwich, CT. Andy attended schools in Connecticut, graduating from the Norwich Free Academy in 1962. He attended and graduated from Lowell Tech with a degree in engineering. It was there that he met Margaret Rita Donovan. They married in 1968 and moved to Pelham, NH, where they raised four children. In 2014, he and his wife moved to Westford, MA.
During his career, Andy worked with many large technical engineering corporations before starting his own successful consulting firm. Andy was a world class RF engineer and a great friend to the many people he worked with. He was meticulous in his design, uncompromising in his standards, deep in his knowledge and a major contributor to the now universal deployment of broadband cable modems. He will be missed by all who worked with him and especially those who skied with him.
Andy loved everything about the mountains and nature. He also loved anything political, and enjoyed a good sparring conversation about any political topics. He was one of the first Libertarian party candidates to be elected to office as a state representative in New Hampshire and also served on the local budget committee.
Andy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita; son Matthew Borsa and wife Tina; son Bryan Borsa and wife Carol; daughter Christine and husband AJ Dupere; daughter Barbara and husband Eric Bardzik; sister Elizabeth Doering; sister Barbara and husband Bob Kalinowski; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at Dolan’s Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford, Massachusetts 01863 at 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, March 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 115 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford, Massachusetts 01863. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Andy’s name to Beacon Hospice, 13 Branch Street, Suite 100, Methuen, Massachusetts 01844.

I missed you after you had your stroke, Andy, because
we couldn’t have our discussions. I miss you even more
now because we have nothing. But I know you are finally
at peace.

Hard to believe Andy is gone. I worked with him at Applitek early in his career and he was an engineer’s engineer. Sorry for your loss. God Bless

Dad I know you got your wish and are out exploring the stars. We will greatly miss you here on earth, it just won’t be the same. I know it’s been tough on you with a body that wouldn’t cooperate these past years but through the good times and bad we’ve had many cherished memories and were still able to make you laugh! I love you and will miss you dearly. Until we meet again…

Andy,I did not have the honor to know you before the stroke but I had the privilege to know you over the past 10 years. I will miss us sneeking one too many sweets together during holidays. When I do a puzzle I think of the times I thought I was helping you only to mess up your scheme. Your ability to stay active doing exercise and taking walks inspires me because no illness or deficit held you back. I aspire to age with your same hardiness. Rest in peace, your daughter-in-law, Tina♡

I worked with Andy at Applitek when he was developing his QPSK modem technology for the company. He became a personal mentor and friend during our time together. We also had a chance to bond during our many Ski adventures together. Andy loved to get out into nature and explore. He was never afraid of a challenge either in business or the degree of difficulty of a ski trail. His influence on us will be missed always, and can never be replaced.
