Bev Cancella (Silva), 81, of Chelmsford, MA passed peacefully at her home on Friday December 8, 2023.
She was married to Donald H. Cancella with whom they had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this November.
Born in Lowell, MA she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Santos) Silva.
Bev graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1960. After high school Bev attended Lowell State College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Bev’s true passion was teaching, she continued her education at Northeastern University where she achieved her Master’s Degree in education and from their started her teaching career.
Bev retired in 2002 from the Westford Public School system, she had also taught at Nabnasset school and the Robinson School.
She was a communicant of both St. Anthonys Church in Lowell and St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford.
Bev was a member of various organizations. She belonged to WEA (Wellesley Educators Association), MTA (Massachusetts Teachers Association), NEA (National Educators Association), Holy Ghost Society, REAM (Retired Educators Association) and Delta Kappa Ganna.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking and most importantly spending time with her family and friends especially her grandson Alexander.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Laura Cancella of Chelmsford, MA. Her beloved grandson Alexander, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two wonderful caretakers Ana and Maria.
She was the sister of the late Seraphine Silva, Frank Silva, Jeff Silva, Mildred Burke, Rose DaCosta and Lenore Puzon.

Dear family of Bev,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on Bev’s passing . I had the honor and pleasure of working with her ,for many years , as her teacher assistant in First Grade at the Robinson School in Westford.
She was such an excellent teacher and teammate to Darryl and Carole.
All the children she taught during her career were put on a path for academic
success by having such a devoted teacher.
