Blanche G. (Proulx) Furness, 92 of North Chelmsford passed away peacefully with her loving family at her home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Born in North Chelmsford on July 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Yvonne (Pinard) Proulx. She graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1946.
Blanche was the wife of the late Reginald J. Furness; married 68 years.
Prior to her marriage she was employed as Stenographer for Wm. P. Proctor Lumber Company. After marriage, she was employed as Account Manager for the World Furniture Company in Lowell. She was a stay-at-home Mom for the next several years, rearing five children. She was later employed as Executive Secretary at Raytheon’s Bedford Missile Systems Division, and lastly as Administrative Secretary at Raytheon’s Microelectronics Center in West Andover from which she retired in 1992.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of North Chelmsford. She was an Assistant Leader for the North Chelmsford Girl Scout Brownies, a member of the Chelmsford Jaycee-ettes, and member of the Lowell Lawyers Wives Club.
Many summers with the children and grandchildren were spent at Salisbury Beach. Good times.
After retirement, she wintered in Florida for twelve years. She enjoyed dancing and socializing and was an avid scrabble player and also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching movies. She loved big holiday gatherings and spending time with her family.
Blanche is survived by her loving children Chera Proctor (Walter), Debra Mousseau (Roland), Jeffrey Furness, and Kim Beaudin (Billy).
Also surviving her are two brothers Richard Proulx of North Chelmsford and Roger Proulx of Dracut. Also a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Wanita and George Patten of South Carolina.
More survivors are her ten grandchildren Nathan Stuckart (Jen); Brittany Proctor; Steven Rogers; Cody Furness(Audrey); Ashley Emerson; Lindsey Bruno(Matt); Katie Gray(Erik); Kelly Beaudin; Krystal Duguay (Adam); Kayla Beaudin. And her great-grandchildren Mikayla, Brady, Rylee, Jordan, Abbi, Natalie, Nathan, William, Bentley, Everley, Ensley, Trenton and Calvin. Also surviving her are several nieces and nephews.
Blanche was the mother of Paul D. Furness who died in 2005; the mother-in-law of Paul’s wife, Sally Furness who died in 2003; the mother-in-law of Kim’s husband, William Beaudin, who died in 2004; and the sister of Russell G. Proulx who died in 2006.
We are so fortunate to have so many memories to share. The end, as it should be, was about love. Love given, love received, a lifetime of seeking what was always there. A life remembered… we will remember.
In accordance with Blanche’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and any services will be held privately. Instead, she has asked that loved ones and friends gather for a Celebration of Life, once we can safely assemble. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Blanche G. Furness to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA. 02114. https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/contact-information.
