Bunsak La of Tyngsboro, MA

Bunsak La, of Tyngsborough, after a long battle with cancer, passed away on June 1, 2023 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Born to Boonsri Lar and Samrann Saan in Battambang, Cambodia on November 1, 1952. He was a survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide and came to America with merely a bag of belongings as a refugee in 1981.

He worked hard to realize his envisioned new life in American through many hardships. Bunsak and his wife Sumaly were the owners of the New Asian Market in Lowell for many years. When not at the grocery store you would find him tending his garden or repairing something that needed to be fixed. He was a man of few words but his mind and hands were never idol. He was always guiding family and friends to be righteous.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Sumaly La, with whom he celebrated their 43^rd wedding anniversary on May 30, 2023. Along with his wife Sumaly, he is survived by his son, Symonee La and his wife, Helen of Tyngsboro, a daughter, Maria Cascio and her husband, Brian of Merrimack, NH; two brothers, Johnson La, Benson La; and a sister, Wanthong Sree. He was predeceased by four sisters. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Calvin, Mason, Abby, Isaac, and Kai, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE
