Burt Ernest Hood, 88, of Chelmsford, MA died Monday, April 24, 2023 at Beth Israel Hospital.
He was married for 60 years to the late Eileen (Wall) Hood.
Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Burt Hood and Alberta Thompson.
He graduated from Lexington Mass High School, with the class of 1951.
Burt was employed at NCR Corporation; graduated as an engineer and worked up through the company, retiring from NCR as a National Accounts Manager.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.
He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Eileen, and was a member and past president of the Chelmsford Alpine Squares.
Burt is survived by his sons Michael Hood of Chelmsford, MA and Richard Hood of Medford, MA; and by his daughter Kathleen Garvey of Chelmsford, MA, as well as 7 beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Elaine, Eryn, Ellie, Molly, Robert, and Greg; three great-grandchildren Owen, Maggie and Eileen; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Avery Acker.
Viewing Monday, May 1st at 10AM with funeral following at 11AM at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., N. CHELMSFORD.
Burial in Heart Pond Cemetery, Chelmsford.

Dear Michael,
We are so very sad to hear of your Dad’s passing. He was such a wonderful man. Your parent’s friendship over the years is fondly remembered. So many good times were shared with our parents and all the Alpine Square Dancers -and later, the bowlers and, of course, cards.
Smart and resourceful, he cleverly placed wheels on the card caddy and pot so it could easily be pushed around a large table of numerous friends who clearly enjoyed a good time with each other!
We should all be so blessed to have a friend group like theirs.
