David W. Wellington, 89, of Dunstable died Friday April 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was married to Helen (Clark) Wellington of Madbury, NH with whom he would have celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary on May 28. He was previously married to Gareth (Wetherell) Wellington who died Dec. 11, 2006, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Born in Waltham on May 7, 1927, he was the third child and second son of the late Benjamin and Ida Wellington. David was raised in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1945. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
He served in the US Army as a Private First Class during WWII, spending 11 months as part of the Allied Occupation force in Germany.
David worked at BTU in Billerica for over 26 years before retiring in 1990. He had previously worked at Raytheon Corp.
He was a member of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge for over 45 years, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Acacia Chapter.Saved to your Map
In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard, fixing things around the house, and most of all, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Shelley Bickford and her partner Dan Hoffman of Groton, MA, Randi Chartrand and her husband Kevin of Princeton, MA and Waverly Braunstein and her husband Matthew of Chelmsford; a brother, Howard Wellington and his wife Sally of Olmsted Falls, OH; six grandchildren, Matthew, Alison and Megan Bickford, Christopher Chartrand and Jennifer (Chartrand) Mulkerrin, and Cameron Braunstein; seven great grandchildren, Hannah Shepard, Daniel Cooper, Michael, Eefah and Joseph Mulkerrin, Thorin Fogden, and Sparrow Bickford.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul Wellington, Roger Wellington and Virginia (Wellington) Tyner.
