Dennis Ronald Cormier, 68, of Lowell, MA passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Lowell General Hospital.
He was married to Colleen P. (Dowling) Cormier, with whom he would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on September 9th.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Ronald and Madeline (Pineault) Cormier.
Dennis graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA with the class of 1972. After high school he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from UMass Lowell. Dennis later went on to earn his master’s degree from Anna Maria College and his law degree from Suffolk Law School.
In 2009 Dennis retired from the Lowell Police Department as the Deputy Superintendent. He also practiced law in Lowell for many years.
Dennis enjoyed downhill skiing, reading, dogs, and travelling, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Lowell Firefighters Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons and their wives; James and Cornelia Cormier of Prague, Czech Republic, Joshua and Leslie Cormier of Boston, MA, his grandson Jackson Cormier, his sister Barbara Geoffroy of Lowell, MA, his mother-in-law Joan Dowling of Lowell, MA, his three sisters-in-laws; Barbara Cormier of Dracut, MA, Deborah Dowling of Lowell, MA, Cheryl Calavritinos and her husband Arthur of Lowell, MA, and his several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late R. Raymond Cormier and Constance Skinner, son-in-law to the late John Dowling, and the brother-in-law of the late John LaRock.
