Doris H. (Chagnon) Murphy, 86, of Westford, MA died Saturday night, July 30, 2016 at the Bridges by Epoch in Westford, MA.
She was the wife of the late William J. Murphy III who died Jan. 20, 2015.
Born in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late Magliore and Alice Chagnon. She graduated from Salem High School in 1948 and Salem Commercial School in 1950.
Doris worked as the secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of the Salem Public Schools, retiring in 1997. She had previously worked for the General Electric Co.
She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Church of Salem, MA.
She is survived by two sons, William J. IV and his wife, Angela Murphy of Parker, CO and Michael E. and his wife, Kathleen Murphy of Westford; one daughter, Alice A. Murphy Burge and her husband, Paul Burge of San Diego, CA; one sister-in-law, Ann Murphy Springer of Bodega, CA and seven grandchildren, William and his wife Andrea, Christine and her husband Nathaniel, Carolyn, Julianna, Daniel and his fiancé, Erica, Georgia and Elena.
She was the sister of the late, Paul and Roger Chagnon.
Visiting Hour Friday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Merrimack Valley Hospice House 360 Merrimack St. Bld. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
