Elizabeth “Betty” Day, 81, of Dunstable, MA died Friday June 2, 2023 at Westford House, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was married to the late Howard “Pete” Day for 47 years, until his death in December 2010.

Born in Berlin, NH on September 18, 1941 to Philip and Katherine (Chandler) Lowe. Family legend has it that her father paid the hospital bill for her birth with beaver pelts.

Betty graduated from Milford High School, Milford, NH with the class of 1959. She went on to a long career as a skilled seamstress, later staying home to raise her twins while doing custom tailoring.

She retired in 2006 from Seven Hills Charter School in Worcester, MA as the school’s food services manager, a job that she enjoyed for many years.

Betty loved all types of needle arts; sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery, and was an active member of the Hannah Dustin Quilt Guild in Hudson NH. Every Halloween she would use her talent to create handmade costumes for all her grandchildren and made many one-of-a-kind quilts for her family.

Family and friends will cherish the memories made camping with Betty at Hermit Island in Small Point Maine.

Betty is survived by her two children, Peter Day and wife Shannon of Bellingham, WA, Pam Oakman of Bethlehem, NH, three grandchildren, Amanda Day, Sara Hall and husband Steven, and Vanessa Oakman. She also leaves behind her two great grandsons Dorian and Declan Hall, as well as her sister Sylvia Lowe and niece Katherine Savary. Betty was predeceased by her husband Pete, brother David and grandson Anthony.

Sorry for your loss, Pam and Peter. The memories of those youth hockey days are great ones and Big Pete and Betty are a big part of that – they were great people, and Betty will be missed.
