Ellen Petersen, 70, of Westford, MA, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital. She was born in Manhasset, NY, the daughter of the late Aaron and Marion (Bauer) Richman.
Ellen graduated from MacArthur High School in Levittown, NY, with the class of 1972. She worked as a telecommunications operator for various offices on Long Island, NY and moved to the Lowell area in 2008. She worked at Lowell General Hospital for the last 16 years, where she was an invaluable member of the support staff.
She was a beloved mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and cherished friend to all. In her spare time, Ellen enjoyed cuddling with her black lab, Flynn and doing needlework, including embroidery, cross-stitching, and crocheting. Almost all that knew her have been gifted a piece of her works. She had a love for crosswords, puzzles, art, Broadway shows and a good NY bagel with coffee.
She is survived by her daughter Amanda of Largo, FL; her son, Kenneth and his husband, John, of Miller Place, NY; and her daughters, Melanie and Laura of Westford, MA; her sister, Barbara Richmond of San Jose, CA and her brother, Jeffrey Richman, and his wife, Kathy, of Salinas, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (www.dana-farber.org/gift)

My dad (John Michell) just told me about Ellen’s passing. As a child I got to see her when we would spend time with Aunt Marion & Uncle Richie (two of my favorite people) and in more recent years had been able to connect periodically. She was a beautiful woman and I pray the memories will fill the emptiness in your hearts.
