Em Un of Billerica, MA

Em Un, 94, of Billerica, MA passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to the late Yung Em who passed away on October 31, 1995. Born in Battambang, Cambodia, she was the daughter of the late Un and Touch. After living in Cambodia for over 50 years, she moved to the United States in November of 1985 and later became a citizen of the United States.

She enjoyed going to Watt Phnom Serei Cambodian Temple of Ayer, MA and previously the Trairatanaram Buddhist Temple of Chelmsford, MA.  Em was a devout Buddhist who always made time to recite chants. Some of the things she enjoyed most were gardening, housekeeping, and going for walks. Her family will remember her as a very resilient woman whose strength was unparalleled.  From surviving the genocide in Cambodia, building a new life in the United States, and going through the loss of her husband, she persevered.  She persevered all the way up until her very final moments.

She is survived by her son Mark Em of Billerica, MA, her daughter Sonita Em of Lowell, MA, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving sister of the late Phan Un, Moth Un, and Im Un.

Visiting hours: Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, N. Chelmsford, MA and continued at Glory Buddhist Temple from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral: Monday, February 13, 2023 8:00 AM at Glory Buddhist Temple, 24 Cambridge Street, Lowell, MA.  Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery.
