Frank J. LaFountain, 91, of Westford, MA died Saturday March 26, 2016 at his home.
He was the husband of the late Caroline (Gentile) LaFountain who died Feb. 24, 1985.
Born Bangor, ME on April 6, 1924, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary J. (Dolan) LaFountain. He was raised in Maine and graduated from Bangor High School with the Class of 1942.
During World War II he served in the US Navy in the European and Pacific theaters.
A resident of Westford for over 43 years, Frank worked as a foreman for General Motors in Framingham for 37 years until retiring in 1989. He enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
Frank was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist church in N. Chelmsford. He was a member of the Westford American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Jacqueline and Robert Brianas of Groton, MA; his son, George LaFountain of Westford, MA; his step son, Nicholas Domek of Lawrence, MA; one brother, Cyril LaFountain of Tyngsborough, MA; two grandchildren, Joshua and Heidi Brianas; two great grandchildren, Hailey and Natalie MacCormick and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Francis “Jimmy” LaFountain of Lowell who died Dec. 15, 1997; his step-daughter and son in-law, Rose and Rufus Dennison; his granddaughter, Suzy Brianas who died Feb. 14, 2008; his siblings, James, William, George, John LaFountain, Mary Getchell and Helen Craig.
Family and friends are invited to meet at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD on Wed at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery Main St., N. Chelmsford, MA. For those that wish, Memorials may be made in his memory to the Charity of One’s Choice.
