Frederick G. Roberts Longtime resident of Chelmsford, MA

Frederick G. Roberts, 89, of Chelmsford, MA, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Fred was the beloved husband of Theresa Roberts, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Lowell, MA, on January 22, 1935, he was the son of Anna (Garrity) Roberts and John J. Roberts.
A 1953 graduate of Lowell High School, Fred furthered his education at Wentworth Institute, where he earned his electrical license. He worked as a foreman at San-Vel for 20 years and later served as a maintenance foreman at the Courthouse Racquetball Club. Frederick was also a proud member of Teamsters Local 170.
Fred was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford. He was proud of his Irish heritage and cherished the time spent with his family, particularly the trips to Disney World. He was a big fan of the Boston sports teams and truly enjoyed spending summer vacation time with his family at Seabrook and Hampton beaches.
Fred was a generous, kind and caring husband and father. He taught his family to be strong and independent and to never give up in the face of adversity. His time was always dedicated to helping his family and friends without ever prioritizing himself.
He was selfless and had a big heart. He loved supporting his family’s science fair projects, sporting events and helping out in any way he could. He built a backyard tree house, basketball hoop, skating rink, homemade go-carts and always maintained a beautiful pool for everyone to enjoy. He was always there to provide advice on how to handle a challenge or how to work through difficult decisions.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his two sons, Michael Roberts and his wife Barbara of Londonderry, NH and Kevin Roberts and his wife Susan of Wakefield, RI; three daughters, Betty Bukala of Hudson, NH, Cheryl Britt and her husband Dennis of N. Chelmsford, MA, and Lori Fogg and her husband Jon of Merrimack, NH. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsay, Tim, Chelsea, Mike, Josh, Kim, Kelley, Kevin, Hunter, Matt, Dan, and also nine great-grandchildren, Ben, Lily, Emily, Colby, McKinley, Walker, Sawyer, Julian and Hadley, one sister, Sr. Helen Roberts, OSF of Quincy, MA, and one sister-in-law Karen Roberts of Brattleboro, VT, as well as many nieces and nephews. Fred was a true friend to many, including his best friends Jane and Pat Riley and Eleanor Walsh.
Fred was predeceased by his grandson Jeremy Roberts, his son-in-law James Bukala, and his siblings Francis Roberts, John Roberts, Walter Roberts, Paul Roberts, Marion Sweeney, Anne Casey, Dorothy Roberts, Rita Coughlin, Eileen Shea and Lally Curran.
Fred’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 9:30-11AM at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX STREET, N. CHELMSFORD, MA followed immediately with a funeral service at 11AM in the funeral home.
