George Philip Bruno Jr., 85, of Westford, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Highpointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Gobin) Bruno, with whom he recently celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Born in Binghamton, NY, George was the son of George P. Bruno and Angeline (Prato) Bruno. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 30 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major and earning the Bronze Star for his service.
George was an active member of the community, belonging to the American Legion Post 457 in Westford, the Chelmsford Lions Club, the VFW of Lowell, and supporting Boy Scouts of America Troop 437. He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed many hours playing cribbage with family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Philip Bruno and his wife Nancy of Scottsburg, IN, and Scott Vaughan of Mesa, AZ; his daughters, Theresa Woodard of Indiana and Michelle Bergeron of Lowell, MA; and many grandchildren, including granddaughter, Sarah H. Bergeron of Lowell, MA. George was predeceased by his son, Anthony Bruno.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
