Gloria Schoen, age 90, went joyfully to meet her maker on the morning of September 18, 2021.
Gloria was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Joseph and Pamela (Brown) Schoen. Gloria attended Boston and Lowell schools earning her RN and graduating from the Nursing Program at Lowell General Hospital in 1951. She later earned a BS from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and graduate degrees from Columbia and Harvard University.
In the sixties, she co-founded the MA Association of Personnel Women. The organization successfully increased the number of women personnel managers, who then increased the hiring of qualified women in many companies. With the help of her friends, she recently dug a well for an African School with 450 students that had no running water. Throughout her life, she continued to do projects large and small, always admitting she could never have done them without the help of friends. She became president of the New York Park Avenue Firm, Arn Kay & Schoen. She ended her career with the US Department of Labor.
She leaves her two sisters Norma Antonetti and Joanna Schoen, several nephews, a niece, and many beloved cousins and valued friends.
Gloria is predeceased by her sister Phyllis Cavallaro.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1:30pm at Edson Cemetery, Lowell MA. At the family’s request all participants who choose to attend Gloria’s service will be asked to stay in their car or step outside distancing themselves from the next car. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
