Hartley “Rube” D. Waddell, 86, of Chelmsford, MA died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home.
He was married to the late Sylvia Waddell, who died in July, 1999.
Born in Natick, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lizzie Waddell. He graduated from Natick High School with the class of 1949.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Hartley retired from Torque Systems EG&G of Waltham, MA where he worked as a buyer.
He was an avid Atlantic Brave fan.
Hartley was a long time member of the Chelmsford Elks Lodge #2310.
He is survived by two sons, Edwin and his wife, Diane Waddell of Chelmsford and Stu and his wife, Catherine Waddell of North Andover; a daughter, Cynthia Stone of Chelmsford; a son-in-law, Dan Kittredge of Naples, FL; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur Waddell of Maynard and Eldon Waddell of Framingham, the father of the late Linda Kittredge of Naples, FL who died in March, 2018, the grandfather of the late David Stone of Chelmsford and father-in-law of the late Douglas Stone of Chelmsford.
His visitation will be from 10 to 11am on Sat., Aug. 11th followed by an Elk Service with a Funeral Service at 11am with military honors at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Dear Rube,
Although I didn’t know you, I heard about you affectionately from co-workers at Torque Systems. You helped lay the groundwork for people like me to be employed. Thank you for all your efforts and may you rest in peace. CB and the late Bill Ashworth.
