James “Jim” P. Ward Sr., 87, of Westford died surrounded by his loving family at his home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
He was married to C. Doris Ward with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2016.
Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late George and Mae Ward.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Jim retired in 2012 from the Boston Welding Company of Woburn. He had previously worked as an auto mechanic for Hertz Leasing of Roxbury.
He was a member of the American Legion AW Vinal Post 313 of North Chelmsford, the VFW of Westford, the Lowell Sportsman Club and the National Rifle Association.
Jim was known as “Mr. Fix It”, was an avid Red Sox fan and he loved his family more than life. He is in God’s hands now.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Jim Ward Jr. and his wife, Janet of Westford; daughters, Phyllis Walcott and her husband, Greg of Tyngsboro, Sharon Ward of Portland, OR, Doris “Mackie” Sullivan and her husband, Dennis of Lowell, Cheryl Ward of Groton and Maureen Paquette of Westford; brother-in-law, Paul Leduc of Cambridge; sister-in-law, Flo Diorio of Woburn; Godson, Fran McBay; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late George Ward, Robert Ward, Phyllis Ward and Marjorie McBay and the father-in-law of Paul Paquette Sr.
Visiting hours Fri. 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Sat. at 10A.M at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Burial in the Pinegrove Cemetery, Westford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611-3201.

to the ward family i am so sorry about this uncle jimmie you were the best dad i ever knew always there for your 6 kids. have alot of great memories of all of us. you will be deeply missed. so soory for your loss auntie he loved you so much can’t say enough about this man rip love margie

my condolences to all of you. Mr. Ward/Jim/Papa, was truly a great man who everyone looked up to. he never said too much but when he did everyone surely listened !! keep on fixing things Mr. Ward see you when its my turn.
