Janet T. (Desmarais) McKenney of Nashua, NH, formerly of Dunstable, MA

Janet T. (Desmarais) McKenney, 85, of Nashua, NH formerly of Dunstable died Thursday, June 23, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH.

She was married to the late James McKenney, who died on February 17, 1990.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Blanche Desmarais. She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1955 and earned a BA in Elementary Education from Lowell State Teachers College, UMASS Lowell.

Janet was an elementary teacher for the Groton-Dunstable Public Schools. She had previously been a first-grade teacher for the Chelmsford Public Schools at the Center School and the South Row School.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.

Janet was a member of the National Teacher’s Association, the League of Catholic Women, the UMASS Lowell Alumni Association, the College Club of Greater Lowell and the Dunstable Senior Center.

She is survived by her son, James and his wife, Danielle McKenney of Nashua, NH; two daughters, Joanne and Todd Carr of Rindge, NH and Maureen and her husband, Michael Higuchi of Aliso Viejo, CA; a sister, Dorothy and her husband, Raymond Berry of Nashua, NH; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Jessica L. Carr and great grandmother of the late Avery Glenneck.

Janet’s family would like to thank Courville at Nashua for the many years of loving care they gave Janet.

Her visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 10:00 to 10:30am at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Church.
