Janina “Jane” (Wojtas) Gendron passed away peacefully at D’Youville Senior Care on Sunday January 19th.
Jane was born in Lowell, April 26,1922, beloved daughter of the late John and Barbara (Gawlik) Wojtas. Jane, a lifelong resident of Lowell, graduated from Lowell High School, and had a career in retail and in her later years worked at UMass Lowell.
Jane’s greatest accomplishment was the life she built with her beloved husband Francis “Frank” Gendron with whom she shared over fifty years of marriage until his death in 2007. Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank shared many happy times with the extended family – playing cards, trips to the beach, and enjoying their nieces and nephews. Both of them enjoyed their long daily walks and shopping excursions. Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank were faithful members of St. Margaret’s Parish, delighting in seeing their nieces and nephews at Mass.
Aunt Jane lived independently until her recent illness. Aunt Jane kept an immaculate home, grew beautiful flowers in her yard, raked leaves and shoveled snow. She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter, and also liked to draw. As she grew older, she enjoyed word searches, watching Mass on television, keeping track of the Patriots and maintaining a keen interest in politics and fashion trends. She never missed contributing to St. Margaret’s food drive, making sure she brought enough extra food to donate to help others.
Aunt Jane is survived by her treasured niece Barbara Ann Woulfe of Maryland, her sisters-in-law Terry Gendron of Salem N.H. and Patricia Wojtas of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and many loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who loved her dearly. Jane was also blessed with kind neighbors.
She was predeceased by her siblings – Anita, Josephine, Stanley, Anthony (and their spouses), and Alexander. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law of her beloved Gendron family.
Her visitation will be Thursday 10am to 11am with a service at 11am at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Memorials may be made in her name to the St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 374 Stevens St., Lowell, MA 01851. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041. Guestbook at www.dolanfuneralhome.com

Rest well Aunt Jane, or “JJ the Magic Rabbit” as your eldest nephew on the “Gendron side” called you during the early years when you and Uncle Francis had just started dating. You always had a bright smile and a happy and gracious way. Say “hi” to Uncle Francis for me.
Love Your nephew Art
