Jeffrey Matthew King Jr., age 36, of Chelmsford, MA, passed away on December 3, 2023 unexpectedly at his home. Born in Chelmsford, MA, he was the son of Jeffrey King Sr. and Christine King of Chelmsford.
He graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 2006 and then earned an Associate Degree in Communications at Dean College. More recently Jeff was part of the apprentice program through Interstate Electric in Billerica Ma. He was proud of this career change and had hopes of becoming a licensed electrician. Prior to his work at Interstate, he held positions as a cook in Massachusetts., Colorado and Rhode Island.
Jeffrey spent several summers living and working on Block Island, Rhode Island. Here is where he developed lifelong friends and experienced endless summer memories. Being surrounded by the ocean, sunsets, and close friends, the island felt like a second home to him.
He had a passion for music, frequently attending live shows and playing the guitar for his friends and nephews. He was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a Patriot’s Sunday with his family. His interests included cooking, golfing, fishing, snowboarding, spending time with friends and of course his early morning swims in the ocean. He was a big foodie who loved to experiment and get creative in the kitchen, creating new recipes which always included a special sauce.
Jeffrey was considered by many as a caring and compassionate friend who could put you at ease with one of his warm hugs. He was the kind of person who was the friend you’ve always been waiting for in life and knew once you met him, it was that special kind of friendship that lasts a lifetime. He was a big guy and his personality was even bigger but his heart always outweighed both.
Besides his parents he is survived by his sister Joanne King of Chelmsford, MA.; his brother John Overton and his wife Kate of Westford MA; his nephews, Nicholas and Anthony Overton of Westford, MA; as well as an uncle, aunts, and several cousins.

I grew up down the street from Jeff and even ran into him on Block Island. I was just reminiscing with my cousin how you would never catch Jeff in a bad mood, and how much fun he was to be around. Prayers up to Jeff and his family.

Jeff was one of the kindest, most gentlest souls I’ve ever had the honor of calling my employee, my neighbor, and most importantly…my friend.
I was crushed to hear the news but will take solace in knowing that all I need to do to hear his laughter once again is listen to my heart.
Rest easy my friend.

Jeff…a big smile. Always respectful/happy conversations when I’d run into him around town. He was certainly blessed with a loving, supportive family.
I pray that happy memories can help during this time. My heart felt sympathies to his family and all who loved him

Jeff was a huge part of our Rebecca’s Block Island family. You were always greeted by Jeff with a huge smile and an ever bigger hug! You could often find him on the family property playing soccer with the kids, they enjoyed him so much! After leaving the island to pursue a new career, we always looked forward to his last minute visits and getting in one of his wonderful hugs. Our hearts are truly broken and he will be missed every day. Our most sincere condolences to Jeff’s family and wish you peace and strength as you celebrate the wonderful life of Jeff today and always.
With love,
Jonas, Sarah, Thomas and Charlotte Szabo
