Chelmsford, MA – Jennifer Rae MacDonald, Age 48, of Chelmsford, MA formerly of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Jennifer was the beloved wife of Frank MacDonald with whom she celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on October 17, 2023. She was the adored mother of their 8-year son Connor MacDonald.
Born in Lowell, MA, she was the cherished daughter of Patricia E. (Villineau) McLenna of Lowell and the late Arthur W. McLenna. Jennifer graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1994. Jennifer received a Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology from UMass Lowell in 1999. She was a graduate of Boston College with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2002, and a graduate of Rivier College with a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching in 2007.
Jennifer dedicated the majority of her professional life to education and was employed by the Lowell Public Schools teaching English Language Arts at the Butler Middle School.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford. Jennifer enjoyed going to the Maine Seacoast, White Mountains, Mystic Seaport, Beaches, Concerts, Broadway shows in Boston, Museums, Fairs and Festivals, and good food with her family and friends. However, she especially loved spending time with her husband Frank and son Connor going to restaurants with lobster rolls, bakeries, Greek food and festivals, strawberry picking, apple picking, as well as picnics and aquariums.
Besides her husband and mother, Jennifer is survived by her son, Connor Francis MacDonald, her step-daughter Sarah MacDonald-King of Linton, IN, her father-in-law Ronald Gillis MacDonald of Wilmington, MA, her brother-in-law Scott MacKinnon of Summerside, PEI, her sisters-in-law Donna MacDonald of Lexington, MA, Brenda Ingersoll of Tewksbury, MA, and Linda Storer of Wilmington, MA. She is survived by a loving niece, nephew and many cousins.
Family and friends will gather at Dolan’s Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street Chelmsford, MA for visiting hours on Wednesday (5/22) from 3 to 7pm and a Funeral Mass on Thursday (5/23) at 9am at St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford followed by services at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
