John “Jack” C. McCarthy, 85, of Groton died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his home.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Ralph and Rosalind McCarthy. He graduated from Keith Academy of Lowell with the class of 1949.
Jack was a builder in the Greater Lowell area. He co-owned and operated with his family the Peerless Diner of Lowell.
He was a member of the Irish Social Club of Acton.
Jack enjoyed playing cards with friends and was an avid collector of antiques and cars.
He is survived by his daughter, Darsi Emerson of Tyngsboro, grandchildren, Charles Emerson, Joan Emerson, Justin McCarthy, Maura McCarthy Lia, four great grandchildren, Ethan, Michael, Macalister and Josephine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late John McCarthy, the grandfather of the late Jessica Gargiulo and the brother of the late Francis J. and Daniel J. McCarthy.

Jack was very special in every way! As a good friend with a big heart, he shared many stories and adventures over the thirty years I have known him. I will miss him greatly!
