John M. Donigan Sr. 89, of Chelmsford formerly of Littleton died Sunday morning, October 30, 2016 at the Heritage Nursing Home.
He was married to the late Marion Donigan, who died on August 6, 2016.
Born in Watertown, MA he was the son of the late Henry J. and Palma Donigan. He graduated from Watertown High School and earned a BS in Business Administration from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT.
He proudly served with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
John retired from Raytheon of Bedford, MA in 1993. In his retirement years, he worked for Courtesy Demos of Andover, MA
He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford and St. Anne Church in Littleton and was a volunteer for the Youth Ministry.
John was a member of the Chelmsford Lions and the Chelmsford Elks.
He enjoyed gardening and cooking and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his children, John M. Donigan Jr. of Chelmsford, Nancy Elacqua of Natick, Jeanne and her husband, Eugene Villare of Chelmsford, Therese and her husband, Bill Englehardt of Bradford, Michael and his wife, Suzy Donigan of Chelmsford, and Anne and her husband, John Robinson of Chelmsford; nineteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Thomas H. Donigan, the brother of Henry Donigan and the grandfather of Timothy Englehardt.
Private Funeral Services were held Tuesday with his burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Heritage Nursing Home Activity Fund, 841 Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01854 or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Suite 101, 9 Erie Dr., Natick, MA 01760.
