For 9 years I worked at the Wang School down the hall from Jolane. She was an amazing 7th grade English teacher and helped me improve my teaching of 6th grade students. Jolane led the English curriculum group for several years, a group I enjoyed being part of. Her leadership and friendship made my years at the Wang School enjoyable and memorable. My sincerest condolences to her family.

I had Mrs. Roy. At the Joseph A. McaVinnue school. Can’t say I liked her much at the time. I can say, looking back, she was in the top five of the best teachers I’ve ever had. God bless her. John Boy Walton will always hold a special place in his for her. Tremendous woman.

Jolane was a true lady. We mentored together and were the same age, making a “pact “we would not retire until we were ready. She loved teaching and although her retirement was cut short , take heart in the fact being a teacher was not a job to her, it was who she was and she did something she loved it right up until the end.
My sympathy and prayers.

Saddened to hear of Jolane’s passing this evening. A tremendous mentor to both teachers and students, her commitment and dedication to bettering the lives of the youth of Lowell will be everlasting. May she rest peacefully and may her loved ones be able to treasure the tremendous impact she has made on so many and have that truth bring them solace in this time.

I cannot fathom the right words to describe the impact that Mrs.Roy has left on me. She was compassionate, reliable, kind, warm hearted, intelligent, caring, supportive… I could list a hundred more words to describe her, but even then that wouldn’t be enough because Mrs.Roy was everything good and more. I had the joy of knowing Mrs.Roy for two years. She has taught me so much, but the most important lesson I’ve learned from her is that no matter how many curve balls life throws at you, never give up. She emailed me on June 16th. In this email she said, “It was a real treat to have you in class. You are an amazing young lady who is going to do great things! Always believe in yourself and keep reaching for the stars!” This would be Mrs.Roy’s last words to me. I am starting high school soon, and one day I’m going to graduate. I am going to do all that I can to make Mrs.Roy proud to not only have been my teacher, but my friend. I’m going to miss Mrs.Roy. I already do, but I know that she is in a better place reading this message. My condolences to her family.
