Joseph Gilbert Foley, 83, lifelong resident of Lowell, MA died September 21, 2021, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by family.
He was married to his beloved wife Therese (Geoffroy) Foley with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last May 27th.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Mercier) Foley.
He was educated in the Lowell school system and served with the US Navy.
Joseph retired from the Teamsters Local 25 in 1998 as a truck driver after 35 years.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford, MA.
He enjoyed many years of travel and adventures with his wife Terry and friends. He had a great love for the outdoors, spending many summers at his like house in Deering, NH; kayaking, boating, and tinkering around the house and yard. One of his great joys was spending a hot day pulling his grandchildren around the lake on a tube or watching them spend hours swimming and finishing, but most of all sharing in his love of the lake. He also spent many wonderful years skiing, bike riding, and hiking various trails with one of his favorites being Tuckerman’s Ravine.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia and her husband Stephen Nobrega of Leominster; sons, Kevin and his wife Jennifer Foley of Dracut, MA, Bryan Foley of Barrington, NH, and Bruce and his wife Kristen Foley of Chelmsford; brother, Harold Foley and his wife Danielle of Dover, NH; sister, Katherine and her husband Stanley Pietrusewicz of Pelham, NH, sister-in-law, Claire Foley of Nashua, NH; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild and many, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Joseph was the brother of the late Kenneth Foley.
Visiting hours Friday Oct. 1, 2021, from 4 to 7 P.M. Funeral Saturday at 10 A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Face masks are optional.
