Our hearts and prayers aplenty go out to you and your family. Having lost 3 sons – one at birth, another at 21 in an auto accident and the third
this past November in his sleep due to epilepsy, He was 52. I should know how to console you, but I don’t. One day at a time and each of you
has your own loss. Never expect anyone else, including your spouse, to have quite the same pain as you. Always know you did all
you could to love your dear, beautiful son. Life does go on and we all carry our boys in our hearts wherever we go and whatever we do. Drugs are so evil.
They steal the very best of our youth. Please know I am here for you 24 7. Really. There are times when I feel like a huge ocean wave is pulling
me under and I have to take a long deep breath. As for our family, we hug a lot and continue to share all good times and holidays, knowing that is what they would want us to do, with a toast ” to those who are here and those we wish were here”. God bless you all. Margaret/ Peg

There are no words that can ease your pain. I wanted to give you a big hug today Gwen and tell you everything will be okay but that’s not true it’s never okay! Our son has been gone 4 years to a drug overdose. It seems like yesterday, It’s like ocean waves rolling in bring memories of all the goodness of your child, and rolling out sucking your breath away leaving you with an emptiness. May Joey rest in eternal peace. May God bless you and your family with strength and peace.
Love Margaret-Ann A

Dear Gwen and Joe, I can’t even begin to know how you feel at a time such as this. Which makes it even more difficult to know what to say. I am in shock. Absolute shock! I was hoping and praying for the best for Joey. There are no answers. There is no reasoning. There are always unexplainable circumstances as to why this happens to such a wonderful family. To good people as you and Joe are. Please know that my thoughts, prayers and tears are there with you in spirit…now and always. I think of you both very often.
Your Cousin, Christina

Gwen, I am very sorry to hear of Joey’s passing. Please also pass my condolences on to Joe and Stacy. It is going to be very hard in the beginning, as you have all of these “firsts” to go through, his birthday, your birthday, and all of the holidays in between.
I am not going to tell you that the pain goes away, but eventually it will get easier, or so I am being told. Haven’t gotten there just yet.
I unfortunately know this from first hand experience, as it will be a year on June 12 th, that I lost my Smitty.
Just keep remembering that Joey did not leave you, the Lord has brought him home, and ended his pain.

Joe and Gwen,
Our most sincere apologies for the loss of Joey, to you and the rest of your family. We were all one big family way back then , when Joey was scraping in the corners and blazing up and down the ice at some nearby skating rink and hockey game. No one beat Joey to the puck. Those memories and those of play-dates when the kids were so young, will always be remembered fondly, despite his loss.
God Bless,
Gary, JoAnn, Andrew and Ally Johnson

Dear Gwen, Joe, and family,
I’m so deeply saddened by this tragic, sudden loss of your son. Having lost a young brother and witnessing our family cope with the intense grief, there are few words that can bring comfort. My Mother was told by a fellow berieved mother “I taste your tears” it is one phrase that has stuck with me as conveying some of the pain only a parent can know. Loosing a child is beyond difficult. I send thoughts and prayers for healing and acceptance and you begin this heart breaking journey without you son on this Earth. May his memory be eternal.
Peace, Love, and Prayers

I am so sorry to learn of your son’s passing, and I’m praying for you and your family. No words can express the pain and heartache you are experiencing.
Here is a passage by Marianne Williamson. I hope this helps.
Dearly beloved God,
Be our strength at this time, that we might yet see the truth of the world as You created it.
That there is no death, that Joey still lives, and in You we still live with him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences.
When we are grieving the loss of a loved one, we can find comfort from the scriptures. I found a couple scriptures at jw.org.
Psalm 55:22 promises that God will sustain us if we just throw our burdens on him. So we need to remember to pray.
I look forward to seeing Joey in the resurrection when he will again be enjoying friends/family. (John 5:28,29).
I hope these scriptures bring you as much comfort as they bring me.
