Leo Francis Farrington, 89 of Pepperell formerly of Lowell died peacefully Monday afternoon, September 4, 2023 at Belvidere Healthcare Center in Lowell with his daughter by his side.
He was predeceased by his wife the late Claire (Gaudette) Farrington who died January 30, 2013.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Paul and Alice (Moran) Farrington.
Leo was raised in Lowell attended St. Margaret’s School and graduated from Keith Academy with the class of 1952. He was the proud captain of the football team at Keith Academy.
He was a dedicated printer working at Off Set Printing in Lowell until a fire closed the company. He retired from ZBR printing in Bedford and continued working as a security guard at Wang Labs in his retirement. He also volunteered at Lowell General helping patients and visitors with information and assistance.
He proudly served for the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Leo was a friend of Bill W.
He loved to sit outside with his Cat Luna, and loved country music.
He is survived by a daughter, Maureen Farrington of Pepperell, four grandchildren, Derek Puzzanghera and his wife Daryelle of Pittsfield, NH, Kristen Hazeltine of Manchester, NH, Steven Betts and his wife Hope of Newport, Vermont, and Katie Betts of Haverhill; nine great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and very dear and closest friends Brent and Amy Gelanis and Buddy Paul, six step-children, James Poirier and his wife Kathleen of Hollis, NH, David Poirier of Yulee, FL, John Poirer of Milford, NH, JoAnn Poirier Dowe, of Portland, ME, Roberta Curtis and her husband Michael of Pelham, NH, and Melissa Poirer of Amelia Island, FL, Also several nieces and nephews.
Leo was predeceased by his children the late Brian Farrington and Sharon Betts; all of his siblings the late Paul, John, Lawrence, and William Farrington, Theresa Blandino and Alice Miller; also two grandsons, the late Nathan and Troy Betts.
Leo’s visitation will be Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 4 to 6pm with a service at 6pm at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Private burial at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to Friends of Bill, GSO, 475 Riverside Dr. #11, NY, NY 10115. So sorry to hear of Leos passing, Maureen. We have many good memories of Leo and Claire. They helped a lot of people. We will be unable to attend his wake and funeral but will have you and your families in our thoughts and prayers. John & Robin Grant
