Marcia Thane Evans, 83, of Chelmsford, MA passed away late Monday night, June 19, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was married to the late H. Leonard “Len” Evans who passed away on January 4, 2014. Born in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Max and Hildred (Polley) Groom. Marcia graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1957 and later went on to take courses at Bradford College in North Andover. She retired from Macaronis Law Firm after working as a legal secretary for many years.
Marcia was an active Member of the Congregational Church in North Chelmsford where she served as a past deaconess, choir director and long-time choir member. She was also past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant and past worthy matron of the Priscilla chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Marcia received a 50-year membership award from the Fidelity chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a life-long member of the Lowell Sportsman Club.
One of the things Marcia enjoyed most was hosting family gatherings where she would make her famous homemade peanut butter balls, marble squares and molasses cookies. Some of her favorite places to visit were Lake Placid, NY, San Antonio, TX, and especially Linda’s Breakfast and Lunch Place in Seabrook, NH. Marcia’s favorite hobbies included making plastic canvas crafts as gifts for friends. No matter where she was, or what she was doing, you could always find her following her passion for singing.
Marcia is survived by her daughter and her husband Nettie and David Post of North Chelmsford, MA, her three grandchildren; Harold Post, Adam Post, and Joshua Post all of North Chelmsford, MA, her life-long best friends; Denise Ciesiak of Ohio, Carole Royer of Haverhill, MA, and Peggy Judd of Londonderry, NH, and her many beloved feline friends (BFFs).
