Margaret Helen (Murphy) Nickles, 96, of Lowell died, November 23rd in Lowell.
“Peggy” was married to the late William H. Nickles, who died in 1986.
Born in Lowell, MA she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Katherine E. Murphy. She was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1937, and Wilfred Academy of Hairdressing in Boston, MA.
Peggy retired from the City of Lowell in 1984. She had previously worked at many beauty shops in Lowell and owned and operated Peggy and Ann’s Beauty Salon in Lowell.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Peggy was a member of the Franciscan Mission Association, League of Catholic Women and the Friends of Mercy.
She is survived by her son William M. Nickles and his wife, Patricia, of Lowell; two daughters, Kathryn E. and her husband William N. Kring of Charlton, MA and Patricia A. Nickles of Lowell; a grandson, William N. Kring Jr. and his wife, Karen of Milton, MA, several nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Lisa DeRusha, Alexie Knapp and Karen Kycia.
She was the sister of the late Francis Murphy, John M. Murphy, Catherine Wholey and Mary Murphy.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all of Peggy’s caregivers, including; Karen, her granddaughter-in-law, Alexie, Johanne, Heather, Michele, Denise, Tiffanie and the West Wing staff of D’Youville Senior Care Center.
Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Wed. at 8AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9AM at St. John the Evangelist Church.
